The mission of the Danspace Project is to offer innovative dance artists opportunities for growth and development through the support and presentation of their work. Danspace is committed to ensuring that choreographers can take risks, can realize their artistic vision in a professional setting, and will be viewed by an educated and receptive audience.

Twenty-five weeks of contemporary dance (including local, national, and international artists) are fully presented by the Danspace Project each season, providing artists with technical, promotional, and front-of- house support. Danspace has presented a number of artists at early stages of their careers including Bill T. Jones, John Kelly, Bebe Miller, and David Rousseve. Danspace also serves more established artists; artists such as Meredith Monk, Iréne Hultman and Bebe Miller find a supportive milieu for showing site specific work or work in development. Since its inception, more than 130 works have received creative support from Danspace Project's Commissioning Initiative.
