Moby Dick in Venice

Internationally acclaimed puppet artist, Roman Paska returns to the Festival with an exquisite, dream-like performance inspired by images from Herman Melville's novel. In this haunting, intricate work, the epic pursuit of Melville's whale, "the epitome of beings," is set in the "epitome of cities," where the hunt becomes a ritualized exploration of the creative and cathartic power of madness. The production incorporates live actors, movement, and a poetic text with Paska's signature assemblage of puppets and found objects.
